The 6AM Club

Day 1
When they say smell is the strongest sense tied to memory, I believe it.  At 6AM in this town, I expected to see more people out and about; I expected to be dodging automatic sprinklers. But the sky was clear, the air carried the scent of morning dew on grass and I instantly remembered back to my days as a new army recruit ready for the morning run. I was half my age then! Today, I hit the ground running... or more like walking. Just as before I went  to sleep in my workout clothes and beat the alarm by atleast 10 minutes!!!! (I did end up going to bed at midnight, nearly 2 hours earlier than my regular routine) All I had to do was throw on a pair of running shoes and a hoodie and I was out the door without any tiny pitter-patter's of tiny feet to ask me where I was going!

The constellations were still out, the only one I could recognize jumped out at me. Still an hour to go till sunrise. Tonight though I will show my kids the rare blood-red lunar eclipse. I ran under the canopy of tall neighborhood trees, the light of the street lamps like moon rays casting a neat shadow of the digital format camo pattern on the pavement.

It was a short run today, but I wanted to be back in 20 minutes, have a quick stretch and a glass of water and recharge myself for the day.
